How to get thicker eyebrows

written bySima Ahmed

Everywhere you look, every magazine you grab, or editorial spread you glance over, you'll see one common trend. THICK BROWS. The full eyebrow trend is one that we believe will never go away. Thank goodness for that if you ask me. For the women (or men) with thin eyebrow hairs or hair loss who like to aim for a fuller forest. We got you!

These days you have many companies promoting hair growth products. To make it easy for you, we have listed the 3 most effective products and 2 treatments that will help you create thick, full, voluminous brows.

Castor oil

One of the most well-known natural remedies products used to stimulate hair growth is castor oil.

There are many speculations that pure castor oil is a magical remedy for hair growth. Many people swear by applying the oil daily on the scalp and/or eyebrows, after several weeks there is a substantial difference in density and amount of hair. However, there is no actual evidence of these claims being 100% true. So far, what can be confirmed is that the chemical compound that makes up almost 90% of Castor oil (ricinoleic acid) does aid in hair growth, according to sources.

How to use: Make sure you do a patch test prior to use, as we would advise with any product you apply to your body for the first time. Apply a few drops of PURE (must be pure to work!) castor oil to the top or inside of your arm and see if there are any allergy symptoms within the next 48 hours.

If you are allergy free, ensure you have a clean, makeup free face--use a spoolie brush (or cotton swab) to dip into some castor oil and brush into your eyebrow hairs daily for a few weeks. Some people opt for using it twice a day, in the morning and before bed, but you can always start off once a day and see what results it brings you. Many people swear by castor oil and say that it increases eyebrow thickness and growth massively!

It is often said that coconut oil and olive oil also increase hair growth, but this is not entirely true. Both oils help nourish the hair but not directly grow it.

Coconut oil has a moisturizing function. The fatty acids in coconut oil. The various proteins and nutrients such as vitamin E and iron in coconut oil promote healthy and thick eyebrows.

Olive oil contains vitamins A and E. Vitamin E nourishes each hair strand, while vitamin A supports the growth of new hair cells.

Biotin

Vitamin B8, also known as Biotin, stimulates keratin production in the hair and can increase the growth rate of follicles. It nourishes the skin and hair from the inside out and has a positive effect on the nervous system. A shortage of biotin can cause hair loss, fatigue and anemia.

Biotin is often ingested through our diet. The normal daily amount for biotin is 40mg. To stimulate hair growth this dose should be around 5,000 to 10,000 mg per day. Nowadays you have several food supplements in which biotin is highly dosed, think of supplements aimed at hair, skin and nails.

How to use:

Biotin now comes in several varieties. In old-fashioned pills along with other vitamins for hair, skin, and nails or just biotin. Nowadays you also have vitamin gummies (vitamins that taste more like candy. If you don't like pills or gummies, you can always go for a drink with biotin. These often taste like lemonade.  How often you can take it depends on the directions for use of the form you choose.

Always consult your doctor before using supplements to make sure you are allowed to use them.

Eyebrow growth serum

The hair growth promotions are flying around your ears when it comes to eyebrow serums. Do they really work? The answer is yes provided you have the right brow serums. An eyebrow serum activates the hair follicles to which the hairs are stimulated to grow. When it comes to brow serums, it is important to look at the ingredient list. Below is a list of the main ingredients:

- Peptides - Peptides are chains of amino acids or building blocks. They cause thin hair to become fuller.

- Caffeine - Caffeine has been scientifically proven to promote brow growth.

- Prostaglandin analogues - Extend the growth phase of hairs and accelerate the process in which a hair shifts from resting phase (telegone phase) to the growth phase.

- Vitamins - Vitamin C, B-complex like biotin (vitamin B7/B8 or vitamin H) and niacin (vitamin B3) are essential vitamins for hair growth.

How to use: Most eyebrow serums have an application. Apply the brow serum to the brows and brush through the hairs well so that you have all the hairs well covered with the product. You can also do this with a spoolie brush.

Henna

Henna is not a panacea that will make eyebrow hair grow. Henna is best used when you already have a good natural shape but want to create a more intense, fuller look. Then our henna brows are a big favorite when it comes to our ladies looking for thicker, more shaped, and more defined brows. Henna is a better alternative to dye and stays on the skin for up to 2 weeks, and on the hair for up to 6 weeks. We currently have the Brow Henna Mini Kit with the three most commonly used henna colors that you can mix to get the right color for your brows and all the other products you need to achieve the best Henna brows. With henna, simply apply it with the angled brush to your own eyebrow hairs, covering the skin around the brow in the desired shape; let it sit for 10-20 minutes, wipe it off - and enjoy fuller looking brows with little to no maintenance.

Eyebrow Lamination

If you already have full brows or long brow hairs and really want to accentuate, groom or style them into a feathered look - Brow Lamination Glaze is really for you. Our Brow Glaze is an eyebrow liner kit, which ultimately allows you to give your brows a permanent/lift.  It is a three-step process, including a solution that relaxes your hairs, followed by a laminating solution that holds your hairs in the desired position, followed by a nourishing elixir. This creates the illusion of groomed, upright, fluffy brows for weeks on end!

Good to Know

It is important to note that the above tips are not a 100% guarantee. You can't create additional hair follicles but stimulate the intact follicles and poorly growing hairs to become healthier. For people with over plucked eyebrows or spare eyebrow hairs, it is more difficult to grow eyebrows. These are usually so damaged that they no longer function. I recommend you to use eyebrow makeup for a natural look. Think of eyebrow pencil in combination with an eyebrow gel.
