FAQ about Brow Henna
How long does Brow Henna last?
Brow Henna stains the skin for up to 2 weeks and the brow hairs for up to 6 weeks, depending on skin type, hair texture, and aftercare. Oily skin types may see shorter skin staining. Proper prep and aftercare are key to long-lasting results.
What are those crumbs in my henna | My henna has has hardened
Sometimes when you open a new henna jar, you will see some tiny chunks in your henna, or even a hard layer in the opening of the jar. This is completely normal and is just the effect of the movement of the henna while on its way from India to you. You can easily crash those chunks by using a brush or the spoon that comes with the Brow Henna.
Do you see this appearing after your henna is opened for a few months? Then it might be that your henna has expired. After opening, it only stays fresh for 6 months. More info here.
My henna turns green/orange
Green: If the paste is not thick enough, there is a chance that the color will turn a light shade of green. Make sure to let the paste sit for a while, allowing the white balls to dissolve and thicken. Those little balls are the binders of the dye, and they need some time to fully dissolve into a smooth paste. If it turns greenish, don’t worry; this will fade away after 30-60 minutes and the actual color will appear.
Orange: Big chance your client used a fake tan before she entered your salon. When it turns orange, there is nothing you can do. Make sure you communicate to your client in your reservation email about not getting a fake tan 5 days before the treatment.
What’s the difference between Brow Henna and traditional eyebrow tint?
The main difference is that Brow Henna also stains the skin, giving a more filled-in effect, similar to a powdery brow makeup look. It’s perfect for clients with sparse or patchy brows. Traditional tints mostly color the brow hairs and are often less or not visible on the skin.
Can I use Brow Henna on pregnant or breastfeeding clients?
It's not recommended to use Brow Henna during pregnancy or breastfeeding, as a precaution. Even though henna is plant-based, it still contains ingredients that can cause sensitivity, and hormonal changes during pregnancy may affect the skin’s reaction. More info here.
Do I need to patch test Brow Henna?
Yes, always perform a patch test 48 hours before the treatment. Although Brow Henna is a partly natural-based product, allergic reactions can still occur due to the use of PPD. Apply a small amount behind the ear or in the inner elbow and observe for any redness, itching, or swelling. More info here.
How do I get the best results with Brow Henna?
Here are a few tips to get the best Brow Henna results. Want to dive deep? Read our blog post.
- Always clean and exfoliate the brow area beforehand. Use a cleanser that removes oils and makeup.
- Mix the henna to a smooth, not too runny consistency. Let it sit for a few minutes before you start applying so the dye can develop.
- Apply in layers and let it process for 10–20 minutes.
- Advise clients to avoid water, steam, and skincare products on the brow area for 24 hours after the treatment.
I'm new to Brow Henna, do you offer courses?
Yes we do! You can follow our online course here.
Can I laminate brows before or after applying Brow Henna?
It’s not recommended to combine Brow Henna and Brow Lamination in one treatment session. The chemicals used in lamination can affect how the henna adheres to the skin and hair and damage the brow hairs. If you clients wants both, opt for Liquid Dye instead.
FAQ about Hybrid Liquid Brow Dye
How is Liquid Dye different from Brow Henna?
Liquid Dye is easier and faster to apply and develops more evenly, especially on laminated or coarse brows. Unlike henna, which requires mixing with water and more processing time, Liquid Dye is mixed with a cream developer and offers a more predictable skin stain.
How long does Liquid Dye last?
It stains the skin for up to 11 days (depending on skin type and aftercare) and the brow hairs for up to 6 weeks. Clients with dry to normal skin will typically see a longer-lasting skin stain than those with oily skin.
Can I use Liquid Dye on lashes too?
Yes! Liquid Dye is safe and effective for both brows and lashes. When using on lashes, apply carefully and let it process for 5 minutes for deep, rich color.
What developer should I use for Liquid Dye?
Always mix Liquid Dye with Cream Oxydant 3%. Mix into a smooth, creamy consistency. A common ratio is 2 drops of dye to 1 drop of developer. For the airbrush, you use the Airbrush Developer, which has a watery consistency.
Can I combine Liquid Dye with Brow Lamination?
Yes! Liquid Dye is perfect for laminated brows! In fact, it performs better than henna on chemically treated hair. Apply the dye after lamination and reduce the processing time (since the cuticle is more open). You can combine it with our Brow Lamination.
Can I mix Liquid Dye shades?
Absolutely! Mixing shades is encouraged to create the perfect custom match. To help you with the mixing game, we developed a special mixing course to learn you all the tips and tricks.
How long should I leave Liquid Dye on the brows?
Processing times vary depending on desired intensity:
- 2–4 min at the front of the brows
- 4–6 min in the middle
- 6–10 min at the tail
Always remove from the front first to create a natural ombré effect.
Is a patch test needed before using Liquid Dye?
Yes, a patch test is always recommended 48 hours before the first application to rule out allergies or sensitivities. Liquid Dye contains PPD, which is a wellknown trigger for allergies. Apply a small amount behind the ear or inside the elbow and monitor for reactions.
Do you offer a course for Liquid Dye?
Yes! We developed this course to get you started with Liquid Dye in the best way possible.
I can't get the dye out of the bottle
We designed the bottle to prevent air from entering during transport and storage, keeping the product fresh and stable. To open it, you can either cut off the tip or pierce a small hole at the top.
FAQ about Brow Lamination
How often can clients get Brow Lamination?
Brow Lamination should be done every 6–8 weeks, depending on the condition of the brows. Performing it too often can overprocess the hairs, so it’s best to wait until the brows return to their natural state before repeating the treatment.
Can Brow Lamination damage the brow hairs?
When done correctly and not too frequently, Brow Lamination does not damage the brows. However, overprocessing or skipping proper aftercare can lead to dryness or breakage. That’s why it’s important to use nourishing formulas and follow treatment spacing guidelines (at least 6 weeks between treatments).
What is the aftercare of Brow Lamination
To keep them pretty and healthy:
- Avoid water, steam, sweat, or makeup around the brows for 24–48 hours.
- Advise clients to moisturize the brows daily, using a nourishing product like castor oil or a brow serum.
- Brush brows daily into shape for a polished look.
- Avoid harsh exfoliants or retinol near the brow area.
Can I combine Brow Lamination with other brow treatments?
Yes, you can combine lamination with several other treatments: Liquid Dye & Airbrush. However, you can’t combine Lamination with Brow Henna. Brow Henna is stronger than Liquid Dye, hence it's not advised to combine, to not damaging the brow hairs.
Just make sure to follow the right order. For most dye formulas (like Supercilium’s Liquid Dye), apply the dye after lamination for best results and to avoid damaging the hair. Always follow the product guidelines and adjust timing for laminated brows, which absorbs faster and therefore need less processing time.
Is Brow Lamination safe?
Yes, when done by a trained professional and using quality products, brow lamination is safe. However, it’s important to avoid using the treatment on clients with very sensitive skin, eczema, or broken skin around the brows. A patch test is always recommended 24–48 hours before the appointment.
How long does Brow Lamination lasts?
The results typically last 4 to 6 weeks, depending on the client’s hair growth cycle and aftercare. To maintain the best results, it’s recommended to wait at least 6–8 weeks before re-laminating.
Can I use Supercilium lamination for lash lifting too?
Yes! Our lamination has a dual function. You can create the most beautiful results for Lash Lifting & Brow Lamination with the same formula. Win-win!
Do you offer a course for Brow Lamination?
Yes! We developed this course to get you started with Brow Lamination and Lash Lifting as good as possible.
How many treatments can I get out of one sachet?
One sachet has enough product to perform 4 Brow Lamination treatments. After opening you have to use it within 48H. Close the sachet well with foil so air can't get in.
FAQ about Lash Lifting
How long does a Lash Lift last?
The results typically last 6 to 8 weeks, depending on the natural lash growth cycle and aftercare. Some clients may need a refresh after 5 weeks, while others enjoy the lifted look for longer.
Is lash lifting safe for everyone?
Lash lifting is safe when performed by a trained professional using high-quality products. However, it’s not recommended for clients with extremely short or damaged lashes, eye infections, or very sensitive skin. A patch test is always recommended 24–48 hours before the treatment.
Can I wear mascara after a Lash Lift?
Yes, but wait at least 24 hours after the treatment before applying mascara or eye makeup. For best results, use oil-free products and avoid waterproof mascara, which can weaken the lifted effect over time.
What aftercare is needed for a Lash Lift?
- Avoid water, steam, makeup, or rubbing your eyes for the first 24–48 hours
- Don’t use lash curlers
- Keep lashes nourished with a lash serum or oil to maintain strength and flexibility
- Brush lashes daily to keep them looking lifted and neat
Can I get a Lash Lift while pregnant or breastfeeding?
While the procedure is generally safe, it's recommended to consult with a healthcare provider. Hormonal changes can affect the hair structure, meaning results may not last as long or process as expected. Also, patch testing is extra important during pregnancy due to increased sensitivity.
How long does the Lash Lift treatment take?
The full treatment takes about 45 to 60 minutes. This includes prepping the lashes, applying the lifting and setting solutions, and (if included) tinting. It’s a relaxing, pain-free procedure that requires no downtime.
Can I combine Lash Lifting with Dye?
Yes! Lash tinting is often done right after the lash lift for even better results. It darkens the lashes, making them look fuller and more defined — especially helpful for clients with light or blonde lashes. Always use a tint that’s safe for use on lashes, like our Liquid Dye.
What if there is an allergic reaction during a Lash Lift?
Allergic reactions can vary in severity, from mild irritation to more severe symptoms. If the eyelash lift procedure is still ongoing when the allergic reaction occurs, immediately stop the process to prevent further exposure to the allergen. If possible, gently remove any remaining product from the person's eyelashes using a mild, hypoallergenic eye makeup remover. Be careful not to further irritate the eyes. If the allergic reaction is severe or is causing significant discomfort, such as redness, swelling, itching, or burning, it's important to seek immediate medical help. Allergic reactions can escalate quickly, so don't wait if symptoms are severe.
Can I use Brow Lamination to perform a Lash Lift?
While this doesn't go for every brand, Supercilium developed a formula that works for both lashes and brows.
