Are Henna Brows Worth it?
Henna brow tinting has been an extremely popular trend for a while now and there is a reason for it! This is an excellent treatment in the professional eyebrow market because of its natural tattoo-like effect, duration, and safer option to traditional dying. Is this treatment worth it for you though?
First thing to realise is that henna actually does contain PPD, the ingredient found in most hair dyes. People have this misconception that henna is entirely natural and doesn't contain any allergy prone ingredients. The darker the shade of henna you wish to use, the more PPD it has. This is something important to note and remember as it can cause an allergic reaction if you are sensitive to PPD--which is why a patch test is always necessary before trying it for the first time.
Color Options
The great thing about henna brow tinting is the range of different color choices. This gives you the ability to pick the perfect match for your brows and control the level of darkness you'd like your clients brows to be. The ability to mix and match the different color options gives you more flexibility than regular dye.
The Longevity of Henna Brows
If properly cared for, henna lasts on the skin for up to 4 weeks and on the brow hairs for up to 6. This definitely varies from person to person based on their natural oils in their skin and how they exfoliate their faces, what type of cleanser they use, etc. Either way, this is a great alternative to drawing in/filling in your brows daily--even if you have oily skin, you won't need to worry about your brows for at least a few weeks.
While henna may not be the right brow treatment for everyone, it does give some a great solution to having to fill in their brows daily and accentuate their natural shape, define their brows more, and allow for more sparse brows to appear fuller. This is an in between alternative to microblading, so without as much of the commitment--while still achieving longer results than a regular eyebrow pencil or pomade. This is a great semi-permanent alternative for clients looking to achieve a "tattoo like" look without the serious commitment. Try it out to see if henna is your thing!
